Low-light night vision devices work by amplifying faint ambient light (such as moonlight, starlight, and ambient scattered light) to enable nighttime observation. To ensure effectiveness and extend device lifespan, follow these standard procedures:
-
Check device status
-
Inspect appearance: Ensure lenses and eyepieces are free of scratches or damage, the body is not loose, and buttons/knobs function properly.
-
Install batteries: Insert the specified battery type (mostly CR123A, AA, etc.) as per the manual, paying attention to positive and negative polarities to avoid short circuits. Some devices support external battery packs—ensure the connection is secure.
-
Acclimate to environment: If stored for a long time, let the device sit in a room-temperature environment for 10-15 minutes before use (especially in low temperatures) to prevent internal fogging that affects imaging.
-
Environment adaptation
-
Low-light environments (with moonlight/starlight): Turn off the IR light, rely on natural faint light for imaging—images will be more natural with better concealment.
-
Extremely dark environments (no light at all): Turn on the IR light. Imaging may be darker but can still identify object outlines. Adjust IR light power (if adjustable) to avoid overexposure from excessive light.
-
Target identification
-
Focus on areas with obvious light-dark contrast (e.g., object edges, contours) during observation. Avoid staring at bright spots (e.g., distant lights) for long periods to prevent eye discomfort.
-
Move the device slowly when scanning to avoid image trailing or temporary blurriness from rapid scene switching.
-
Power off and disconnect power
-
After use, first turn off the power (long-press the power button or rotate back to "OFF"). Remove batteries if not in use for a long time (to prevent leakage that damages circuits).
-
Cleaning and storage
-
For dirty lenses/eyepieces, gently wipe with a dedicated lens cloth (from center to outer edge). Do not touch with hands or rough fabrics to avoid scratches.
-
Store in a dry, cool place, away from high temperatures, humidity, and direct strong light. Use a moisture-proof box or dedicated storage bag if possible.
-

-
Strictly prohibit direct exposure to strong light: The core component of low-light night vision devices—the "image intensifier tube"—is sensitive to strong light (e.g., sunlight, searchlights). Direct exposure will permanently damage the device. Keep the lens cap on during the day and avoid powering on in strong light environments.
-
Avoid severe impact: Prevent the device from falling or colliding to avoid displacement of internal components or damage to the image intensifier tube.
