Today we are going to introduce you the basic principle of infrared thermal imaging. It is based on the detection and conversion of the infrared radiation emitted by objects to create a thermal image. Here's how it works:

1. Infrared Radiation:

All objects emit infrared radiation, including in the infrared wavelength range. The amount of radiation emitted by an object depends on its temperature. Warmer objects emit more infrared radiation.

2. Infrared Detectors:

Infrared thermal imaging systems use infrared detectors to sense and measure the infrared radiation emitted by objects. These detectors are typically made of materials that can sense infrared radiation and convert it into electrical signals.

3. Sensor Array:

The infrared detectors are arranged in an array on an image sensor. Each detector element corresponds to a pixel in the resulting image.

4. Temperature Measurement:

By measuring the intensity of the infrared radiation emitted by an object, the infrared detector can calculate the object's surface temperature. The detected radiation intensity is converted into a corresponding temperature value.

5. Image Generation:

By mapping the temperature values of each pixel to specific colors or grayscale levels, a thermal image is generated. Typically, areas with higher temperatures are represented with brighter or warmer colors, while areas with lower temperatures are represented with darker or cooler colors.
